When Your Kids Should Start Wearing Deodorant
By
Megan WinegarDeodorant is one of those cultural things that seems crucially important, especially to the people who are just starting to use it. Since adults (at least American adults) are so obsessed with how they smell, how can we expect teenagers (who are obsessed with anything and everything that makes them different) not to be? The question is when is it a good idea to approach your kids about wearing deodorant as part of a good hygiene program?
Younger kids do sweat, but most don't need deodorant until they hit puberty, which is the time when they start producing odor when they sweat.
Unfortunately, no one is quite the same when it comes to this kind of thing. Puberty hits girls anywhere from ages 8-14 and boys anywhere from 9-15, and not everyone experiences it the same way. Some kids will be fine as long as they are showering every day, while others will need more than that, especially if they are active. The best thing to do is to realize that your child may be approaching this time in his or her life, and making sure to let him or her know when you feel it may be necessary to avoid embarrassment.
In the beginning, your child may be able to get by with just deodorant if he or she doesn't have noticeable sweat stains. As the child gets older, antiperspirants will probably become necessary, beginning with some that are marketed for teens. As teens get older, they may want to switch to more adult brands - these are both stronger at blocking body odor, and also seem more "adult" in smells and packaging.
Students that have physical education classes should have deodorant to put on after those classes in their lockers, especially if they aren't using antiperspirants. Going to a P.E. class and then feeling smelly for the rest of the day doesn't do much for the self-esteem.
The main thing is to talk to your child sensitively about some of the changes that will be going on. Needing deodorant is certainly one of the smaller ones as long as your child doesn't have a traumatic experience with being the smelly kid, so keep the lines of communication open early.

Waxing Procedures You Can Go For
By
A AaronsonWaxing can be scary territory for those who have never tried it before. It isn't the sort of subject most young girls talked about with their moms, and it isn't exactly easy to bring up to friends without feeling slightly embarrassed. So what are the different kinds of procedures and how are they performed? Here are the basics to help you make the right choice at the salon.
Facial
There are many different types of facial waxing procedures. Most popular ones are upper lip and the eyebrows waxing; although, it is not uncommon for women to request chin waxes and even cheek waxes. The area to be waxed is cleaned and the pores opened up with a warm washcloth.
The aesthetician then uses a small wooden spatula to spread a thin layer of wax over the unwanted hair. In one quick motion, the wax is ripped away in the opposite direction of the growth. The procedure is repeated until all hair is removed. If any stubborn stray hairs remain, tweezers are used to pluck them out.
Legs and Arms
The legs and arms are performed in the same way as facial waxing, except larger areas of wax are spread onto the body. The aesthetician may use either muslin strips to remove the wax or will use wax that hardens and is then peeled off with no other assistance. Baby powder or another kind of soothing ointment will be spread over the area to help ease pain and calm the skin.
Bikini
This is where waxing steps into scarier territory. A bikini wax is where the hair is removed from any area that cannot be covered by a swimsuit. This generally includes the inside of the thighs, below the navel, and near the sides of the pubic area that are visible outside the bikini area.
Some women find it helpful to wear their swimsuit, but you may choose to wear any sort of undergarments you prefer. Although slightly uncomfortable, a good aesthetician will ensure little pain and embarrassment.
Brazilian
A Brazilian wax is an extension of a bikini. This method removes practically every hair in the pubic area. Some women prefer to leave a small amount above the genitalia. The aesthetician will either ask or you may request a strip (or even another shape) to be left untouched.
You will have to remove all of your clothing from the waist down; although you may be offered a small paper thong for privacy (this will have to be moved later). The aesthetician may require you to move into a variety of different positions in order to gain maximum access to successfully remove them.
A professional aesthetician will be adept at making client feel comfortable exposing themselves and undergoing these highly personal procedures. Choose a well-experienced waxing specialist or ask friends for recommendations.

How Lavender Got Into Your Body Wash
By
Will EdisonLavender, a small popular flower that is found throughout the world and is known for its fragrant aroma and various uses, is actually steeped in history and is more than just an interesting little plant. The oldest records of lavender use date back to ancient times and there are records of its use in historical Syria, Egypt, and Israel, as well as many other corners of the Middle East. In biblical times, lavender was noted as a "holy herb" and its use in the ancient Israelite Temple is well documented and even mentioned in the Old Testament.
In ancient Greece, lavender was also known as Nard, named after the Syrian town from which it had been introduced and in the Rome of the Caesars, lavender was an expensive and greatly prized commodity that could be afforded only by the wealthy elite. Most often found in the Roman bathhouses, where it was used at first simply to scent the water, lavender eventually came to be associated with bathing and cleaning the skin in general and it was here, most likely, that the first ever Lavender Body Wash was born.
Today, lavender can be found in a whole host of bath and beauty product with soaps, face scrubs and cleaners, and shampoos being among the most popular. This trend is not just owing to the fact that lavender packs a deliciously fruity and flowery fragrance but also because of the plant's storied medicinal purposes as well. Most notably, the oils or extract produced by the plant is said to have antiseptic as well as healing properties and according to some, when diluted with water and witch hazel, lavender oil can even be an effective acne treatment. Of course, this same essential oil is the active ingredient in many bottles of shampoo, soap, and Lavender Body Wash and is responsible for the refreshingly cool or mildly tingly sensation some feel when using lavender products.
As far as how Lavender Body Wash is used, most find it the perfect accompaniment for a sponge or loufa. Often times used while bathing or showering, this combination can make for an amazingly refreshing shower or bath or even an all out exfoliation session. When using body wash always remember that a little goes a long way, requiring just a dollop to get a good lather, which helps ensure that you get the most out of every bottle - especially during these tough economic times.
As you can see, lavender has come a long way from its humble beginnings. Once a treat enjoyed only by the wealthiest of wealthy, we know find lavender in our homes in the form of Lavender Body Wash or scented candles and hand soaps. We come across lavender so often, in fact, that we take it for granted. The next time you wash your hands, and smell that familiar fragrance, imagine how different your life might be without it. Perhaps then you will find a great appreciation for this most interesting, yet humble, flower.

How to Remove Unwanted Hairs (For Men)
By
Monica C.There are many, many options to choose from if you want to get rid of the unnecessary hairs in different parts of your body. From your mustache to extra hair in your backside, there's surely a method that would be simply perfect for your time, finances and needs. Welcome to the exceedingly variegated world of hair removal.
The Power of Bleaches
While it's not hair removal per se, you can easily use chemical bleaches to camouflage those unsightly hairs. The usual problem with extra hair is that they tend to draw attention to themselves. You can either use bleach like hydrogen peroxide or skin lightening treatments for this option. The effect would be quick if you're using hydrogen peroxide; the hair would turn to a blond hue quickly. However, make sure you don't touch your hair if your hands have the stuff; you can easily botch your hair.
Bleaching does not necessitate you to trim or shave off the beard or mustache. The facial hair would only be following a color that is more apt for fair skin tones (this method applies well only to people with fair skin).
Depilatories
You're not stuck with shaving; in fact, you can buy depilatories if you want naturally/ synthetically derived chemicals to do the hair removal for you. But make sure you get a quality depilatory cream or ointment; some ingredients may cause irritation to the skin. You wouldn't want an allergy just because you want to remove extra hair. Take note that different creams have different "staying" times.
Read the instructions carefully and apply only the recommended amount. In addition, don't leave the cream, lotion or ointment on too long! If the medical literature states that the product should only stay on your skin for 5 minutes, wash it off after 5 minutes. This would ensure your skin's safety. The results of different products vary as widely as the people who buy and use them. Don't expect too much, especially if it's your first time to use one.
Plucking It Off
Like all mechanical depilation methods, plucking off the hairs has its own peculiar set of benefits and disadvantages. The main benefit is that you have complete control of the hair removal process and you're not spending a dime more on unnecessary skin products.
The downside is that you cannot pluck wide swaths of skin (such as chest hairs and back hairs) and if you pluck too much, the skin ends up with a goose pimple appearance. This applies especially to the armpits and the chin area; some men like plucking off their chin hairs than shaving them. If you're not gentle enough, you might end up with goose pimple-like formations on your chin, too.
Is there a way to halt the formation of the hair? Fortunately, yes. If the tweezing becomes habitual through the years, you just might cause enough selective damage to the root hairs to cause a permanent cessation of new hair growth. However, we're not saying that you should get your metal tweezers and start poking your skin. Leave your skin be and let nature take its course.

How to Use Makeup to Look Mesmerizing
By
Janice Wee and Janice Tham
My guy was mesmerized by a picture of a Japanese star. He found her ordinary looking in her other photos but in this one, she looked gorgeous.
Same girl. Similar outfits. Yet, in one photo she was mesmerizing, in another, just like every other girl.
The difference?
Her eyes. In particular held his attention. That and her sensual lips. The way her mouth was slightly open, suggestively in those pictures.
Well, for starters, her eyes looked much bigger in that photo than in the other pictures. Here, the makeup artist employed eye makeup, for that smoky eye look.
That, paired with ultra long lashes give a girl mesmerizing eyes.
That is a tricky look to apply. Done wrongly, it can make eyes look smaller. Or worse still, it can make a girl look really old.
Done correctly, eyes look sultry and much bigger.
The trick is not to rim the entire eye.
Here's what you can do.
First, use foundation and concealer if you must to create the illusion of perfect skin. If you need a touch of color, apply a rosy blush on cheeks, with a very light hand. For a hint of color. Spritz with water to set the makeup. Then place a kleenex over your face to soak up the excess moisture.
The eyes:
1. Line eyes with a dark brown eye liner pencil or khol:
Draw as close as possible along the upper lash line. Start from the inner corner of the upper eye lid and thicken the line as you move from mid eye onwards.
Draw as close as possible along the lower lash line. Line from the middle of the eye outwards.
2. Use the flat side of an eye shadow brush and go over the liner. Smudge slightly to soften the look.
3. Open up the eyes with long lush lashes. Get false eyelashes, follow the instructions and put them on. Use this
lash kit to help you get started. Or you could use a lash curler on your eye lashes, then a lash-building mascara to make your eyelashes ultra long.
The lips:
1. Pick a lipstick in a soft, rosy pink shade.
2. Use a lip brush to paint the lipstick onto your lips.
3. Apply a pink lip gloss over your lips for that mouth-watering shine that makes your lips look oh so sensual.

How to Wash Your Hair With Conditioner
By
Megan WinegarWhy would you skip shampoo and just use conditioner? It's been trending around for awhile now, and so far it hasn't gone away. Is the conditioner-only wash for you?
Shampoo - even gentle shampoo - contains chemicals that dry out your hair. Shampoo cleans the unwanted dirt and oil out of your hair, but it also strips your hair of the oils that it needs. That means that your hair gets dried out and your scalp works overtime trying to produce more oils to make up for the ones that are missing.
The idea behind conditioner-only washing is that you eliminate those chemicals that strip your hair and just add moisture. Complete elimination of shampoo doesn't work for everyone, but it does work for some people. Here are some steps and options for cutting down on the 'poo.
First, don't go off shampoo cold turkey. Your hair will be greasy and gross (which may happen a little bit, but not as much if you ease into it). Start by not using shampoo a couple of times a week and just washing with conditioner. You might also try not washing your hair every day when you do this.
When you wash with conditioner only, you can either wash your hair with just water and then follow it up with conditioner as usual, or you can scrub your hair with conditioner and follow it up with moisturizing conditioner.
When you wash your hair with conditioner, start with a wet head. Use plenty of conditioner.
You'll want to scrub your scalp with your fingers - probably harder than you would with shampoo, since there's no lather to help you along.
Make sure that you rinse very thoroughly. Conditioner can build up in your hair and attract more dirt if you don't make sure to get your hair really clean.
If you need to shampoo once a week or so to really get a deep clean, it shouldn't mess up your goals. This is common with this kind of cleaning.
This probably isn't for everyone, but for people with dry and damaged hair (especially anyone who regularly uses heat styling) it can really help to restore your hair to something softer and healthier.

Secrets of Beauty Care
By
Soobash BadalAll through the ages men and women have been taking care of their skin and body. The care given to maintain the shape of the body and the facial features is very old habit. To have a face glowing with healthy skin and attractive features is everyone's dream. Everyone wants to know the secrets of beauty care.
To care for your face and skin you have to select products that contain cocoa and mango butters, lemongrass, vanilla and clove oils with avocado, papaya and macadamia. All these ingredients are used in skin care products. Some skin care products nowadays are made up of many synthetic ingredients containing chemicals which are harmful for your skin and won't help in beauty care.
Generally the beauty care products are made of petrochemical by-products; synthetic fragrances; cheap chemical fillers and chemical preservatives with a small amount of natural ingredients like vitamin E, Shea or Cocoa Butter to produce the cream. This cream won't help your skin at all, but in the long run will harm the skin.
To have a proper beauty care is to start using the products which contain more of fruits, plant oils or nuts. These ingredients have been used throughout the ages to heal and nourish the skin and also to treat sickness and aliments. The nut, fruit, vegetable extract are rich in vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and emollients. They are added to clays and minerals and make wonderful sources of nutrition for the skin. The modern skin care products contain only small amounts of natural ingredients. So to care properly for your beauty you have to start using the natural products.
The skin around your eyes is very thin and needs special care, so to do so you should use a very hydrating face cream and apply it around your eyes, so it will keep your skin tight and glowing.
All the skin care and beauty products have ingredients that are beneficial for the skin while others that are harmful. So when choosing a beauty product the good ingredients should be present in high quantities in order to give the best results. The best skin care products are made of natural ingredients avoiding chemicals, preservatives and fillers.
To give a proper beauty care you can use genuine natural and organic skin care products made from ingredients that will support and complement your skin's natural processes. Another age old secret of beauty care is to have lots of salad in your food. Salad not only helps you keep your skin glowing, but also, helps in keeping your body weight maintained. The more fatty food you will have, it will become very difficult to maintain a healthy looking and glowing skin.
Proper sleep and rest are also necessary for beauty care. If you are not having proper rest, then you will have dark circles under your eyes and this will affect your beauty in the long run. Too much of alcohol drinking is also harmful for the skin and beauty care. After a while it starts showing on your skin. Having a healthy lifestyle and using natural ingredients are the best ways to take care of your beauty.

How to Be More Confident About Your Body This Summer
By
Julie SamuelAlthough this is far from ideal, such is life and there is absolutely no need to despair. Modern technology and some other very smart people have provided enough options to quick-fix yourself into being more confident this summer, despite your dress size.
Go Smooth
Smooth, silky skin will make you look and feel loads better, and in turn boost your confidence dramatically. This does mean its time to get going with the buffing and preening, however this is a job well-worth the effort. Going hairless is your first step- shave, pluck or wax yourself gorgeous, it doesn't matter how you get there, but smoother, hairless skin will automatically boost morale. Exfoliating and moisturizing are also key tools in creating a smoother you. Regular exfoliation will not only make your skin glow, but used repeatedly can also stimulate circulation and reduce the appearance of cellulite. The moisturizer will just help create supple, glowing skin and that in itself can make you instantly more confident.
Bronze
Nothing will do more for your confidence than a decent tan. A tanned, bronzed physique can perform wonders. It will make you appear slimmer, more toned and healthier. The multitude of options available also means that you can achieve this healthy glow in a matter of a few a minutes. Self-tanners do tend to take a little longer to work, however there are some great bronzers on the market too, which take mere minutes to turn you into a bronzed goddess. For the ultimate confidence boost- use BOTH! A decent self-tan job, highlighted with some bronzer will leave you glowing.
Suit your Suit
So you are not quite happy with what stares back at you from the bathroom mirror. The sight isn't exactly doing much for your confidence or self-esteem either, but, yet again, there is a quick-fix waiting to save the day. It is as simply as wearing clothing that suits and flatters, particularly when it comes to your beach attire. Different shapes simply need to be dressed differently, and the illusions you can create using some simple principles, are nothing short of amazing.
In with the Water, out with the Salt!
The ultimate quick-fix in order to enhance confidence levels is to simply tackle unnecessary bloating. In order to give the appearance of a slimmer waistline and reduce water retention, drink lots of water and cut down on your sodium (salt) intake. This is one of the most effective strategies in improving your appearance, specifically around the stomach area. This simple daily routine should also help increase energy, improve you sleep and contribute to a better complexion.
Surgical Solutions
Although being realistic about the fallacy of human perfection is important, there also does come a time when surgical options to enhance your appearance may become a real option. If you have problem areas that simply can't be tackled with regular exercise and healthy diet, cosmetic surgery may provide an alternative way to increase confidence. Without looking to create a Barbie doll- like figure, sometimes no amount of tan, exfoliation and correct dressing can help to hide a part of your body which may be of particular concern. In this case, it is important to know that there is an option out there for you. The UK has some highly qualified and professional companies out there who are able to offer
lipo at some reasonable rates, making it more accessible than ever before.

How to Use Hair Gel
By
Megan WinegarHair gel is one of the trickiest hair products to use effectively. While it can really add definition to a hair style, it can also look stiff and unnatural if it isn't used with a certain amount of finesse. It makes sense - the purpose of gel is to make hair stiff so that it will stay in place - but it should still look natural.
Gel can work with every kind of hair style, but it shouldn't be used the same way with each.
Here's a quick overview of ways that gel can be effective:
In wet or dry hair, gel can make quick spikes.
Small amounts of gel can give updos or braids a smoother look and hold frizz in place.
A little gel in the roots can add volume to a hair style (we'll come back to this).
A little gel scrunched into natural curls can add definition.
Make sure that when you buy your styling gel, you consider your hair type. Most gels are made for specific types - short, curly, fine, etc. You should also consider the look you want to achieve with your gel. Some gels can give a nice light hold when used with a diffuser and hair dryer, while others are made for a stiffer hold, as with men's gel.
Once you've got a gel you can use, there are a few guidelines that will help to make everything work more effectively. First, don't put a lot of gel on on the ends of your hair. This weighs your hair down and may counteract any body you're getting from the gel. Avoid applying gel to any one area of the hair - this doesn't make the gel hold better, it just makes your hair look clumpy and globby. Gel typically works better for fine or medium hair. Very thick hair can be styled with gel, but it's more difficult. Make sure to find gel with extra hold or gel for thick hair if possible.
Wash your hair before you style it, and decide whether you want a wet or dry look when you finish. If you want a wet look, apply gel while the hair is still damp and let it air dry. If you want a dry look, apply it to damp or dry hair, but if it's still damp, use a diffuser or carefully dry your hair into the style you want. For very short hair, applying gel to dry hair is a great way to create quick spikes. Dry hair needs less gel than wet hair, so if you want a dry look, make sure to apply sparingly and rub your hands together first to help the gel to spread more evenly.

Outdoor Versus Indoor Tanning - Who Wins?
By
John CatechThe first and most obvious point of discussion when it comes to outdoor versus indoor tanning is control. Many a person has received a sunburn on a cloudy day erroneously believing the absence of a visual sun signified need for cautious protection. Silly fools!
The only combatant a sun worshiper can have is the use of either an effective sun block or a tanning lotion that will regulate just what effect exposure to the sun may have. Yes, like its artificial counterpart, "users" can regulate the time exposed to ultra violet (UV) rays, thus controlling somewhat of the effect. And, both blocking type and tanning lotions are manufactured with varying levels of effect, the former allowing increased (or decreased) protection while the latter can offer varying levels that enhance the overall tanning process.
Additionally, outside tanners must be forever conscious of all the varying nuances that have effect on the bronzing process like time or year, day, location taking in the sun and other factors that can fluctuate making outdoor exposure less controllable.
The advantage visiting a tanning salon is the immediate access to control. Your skin will tan using UV light just as it would outdoors. However, emission of this light is easily controlled through machine settings and, unlike the vagaries of outdoor tanning, will not subject participants to accidental "sunburns" when following the tanning bed, and salon operator's, instructions. Try grabbing a hold of the controls when sitting outside lounging by the pool.
Therefore, when seeking greater control of the sunburn process, by all means, go outside and sit for awhile. Indoor tanning in a controlled environment is not only safer, it is more efficient. It can also be far more convenient. It's tough to maintain an outdoor-produced tan during inclement weather, even when living in the tropics. Repeated days of stormy, rainy weather inhibit constant tanning sessions whereas patronizing a commercial tanning salon limits your sessions to that establishment's hours of operation. Also, indoor tanning can happen at night.
Plus, controlled doses of UV rays can be beneficial to people suffering from psoriasis or osteoporosis since exposure to UV rays can produce the necessary Vitamin D used to combat these conditions. Anyone who is under a doctor's care for prescribed UV exposure can benefit from frequenting an indoor tanning salon. The benefits from exposure to UV rays are many.
Always consult with a qualified physician before undergoing any UV treatment you might believe is beneficial. If your doctor agrees, weather conditions won' keep you from daily sessions when using indoor tanning solutions. Through using a controlled environment, you eliminate the wide differences in intensity accompanying exposure to natural sunlight. Therefore, you'll gain greater control of both skincare and possible healthcare.
While one can obtain a tan under natural conditions, the safer process is to employ the use of a professional tanning bed that controls the UV rays. Additionally, there are no government agencies regulating the outdoor tanning industry as there are that oversee commercial tanning salons. Equipment is inspected, verified and certified as are the business owners who go through instruction and become license and certified. Through their experience, salon operators gain a great deal of specific tanning knowledge that they use when guiding customers to pleasant and productive experiences.
John has owned several Tanning Salons and wholesale
tanning lotion stores over the past 10 years. To learn more please stop by lotion-tanning.com and check out our tanning tips section.

Be Confident With Mineral Makeup
By
Tyler HansenOily skin is one of the common problems teenagers and even adults are dealing with today. And with all the pollution and diet we are having now, the problems of will only get worse.
Oily skin give our skin a shiny, greasy thick and dull colored appearance that is sure to turn everyone off. Add to that it can also cause pimples, blackheads and other embarrassing blemishes. Some cause that have been linked are heredity, diet, birth control pills, pregnancy, hormone levels, humidity, hot weather and cosmetics.
Because of the hormonal shift of growing up, it is much more common in teenagers but it can also happen at any age even if as we tend to grow older the skin tends to become more dryer. This often occurs during pregnancy and menopause because hormonal imbalances can also lead to an upset of the oil balance thus increasing the activity of the oil producing sebaceous glands.
If you are having a lot of pimples, blackheads and other blemishes and you need to hide it. One way to do this is by putting on makeup, but because a lot of traditional makeups are also not advisable to use on oily skin, the makeup that you should use is mineral makeup.
The reason is because this is the only makeup that is ideal for all types of skin. It can deal even with the worst problems oily skin can give you.
You don't need to be discouraged and embarrassed when dealing with oily skin. Mineral makeup can help you hide those pimples and other blemishes.

How Often Should You Wash Your Hair?
By
Gloria SmithMany people want to have great hair most of the time. We use shampoo to clean it and we give it a trim or a new style whenever we feel like it. But more than the styling, proper hair cleaning and maintenance are very important.
Isn't it that personal hygiene covers the entire body of a person? That's right. It is, therefore, called upon us to clean our whole body every day from heat to foot. Sometimes, though, not every one of us will agree that hair should be washed every day. There are some people who believe that daily use of shampoo and conditioner is harmful to the hair that it could lead to dryness.
The truth is that you are not causing harm to your hair if you wash it every day. What matters are the products (shampoo and conditioner) you use, the amount you apply on your hair and the temperature of the water you use. In choosing your shampoo, make sure to pick the one that fits your hair type - oily, dry or limp.
Next step is to choose the right water temperature when washing your hair. Go for the warm temperature which means it should not be too hot. Using hot water can take away your skin's natural oils leading to flakes or dandruff.
After you have prepared your water, it's time to get your shampoo. But wait, remember to pour only a sufficient amount into your palm and then massage it gently on your hair and scalp as you work up a lather. When massaging your scalp, use the balls of your fingertips and do gentle circular motions for about 10 seconds. A massage helps in blood circulation and in getting rid of dead skin cells as well as oil. Just make sure to avoid tangling your hair.
Other than the shampoo, the conditioner is another product used for the hair. This is meant for the hair and not the scalp. Its goal is to smooth the hair cuticles and de-tangle the hair strands after shampooing. Hair experts, however, recommend using the regular conditioners rather than the leave on or two-in-one type.
Rinsing is a critical part of washing your hair. The best way to do it, according to the professional hairdressers, is to stand under running water to ensure that no residue is left on your hair.
Additionally, rinse twice if possible.
Now that you've washed your hair clean, drying and combing come next. Ideally, towel drying is best. Pat your hair gently using a towel making sure that there's no water dripping and then let it dry the natural way. It's okay to use a hair dryer but you have to do it right. To avoid damaging your hair, hold the dryer about six inches away from your head first using the high speed and temperature and lowering it as your hair starts to dry. You can turn off the dryer every now and then when your hair is still damp. It's not advisable that you totally dry your hair with the device as it can result in split ends and breakage.

Learn How to Curl Hair
By
Arjuna BraviaYou always see the red carpet models showing off their immaculate, bouncy and shiny hair, which looks like they have just stepped out of an exclusive salon. However, this look is achievable in your own home. So don't waste your time any longer by wondering how to curl hair!
Firstly, you will need a good pair of straighteners which are not too wide. Always remember to use heat defense products too, as the curls can become frizzy if not used. A light hair spray is a good finishing touch to ensure long lasting curls which won't drop out all day.
To start, section your hair out and only work with a small bit at a time. Get a section of hair about an inch wide, spray on the heat defense and clamp the straighteners at the root. Then twist it, using your wrist, up and toward your face so that the hair is folded over completely.
Slowly pull the straighteners down keeping the hair twisted all the time.
Once you reach the end of the hair, it should immediately bounce back up. If this has not happened it could be due to one of three reasons; your straighteners are not hot enough, your hair was too greasy (or you used too much defense spray), or you didn't pull tight enough on the initial curl. If any of these happens, don't give up. Just leave that part and go back to it later.
Once you reach the top layer of hair, you might want to be a little more careful. Make sure that the hair surrounding your face curls into it and doesn't stick away from it. Do this by using the straighteners to manage which direction the hair goes in.
Once you are happy, lightly spray with hairspray all over and let your wild side out.
Congratulations, you have just learned how to curl hair!

Simple Natural Steps to Remove Facial Hair Quickly
By
Susan JordanWe usually think of facial hair being only on men, but it is a fact that lots of women have it too. This hair can be around the lips, especially on the upper lip, on the chin, on the nose between the eyes, or on the sides of the cheeks. Unwanted hair can occur on any woman, but, as women get a bit older - and especially during or after menopause - facial hair concerns become even more common. Because of the commonness of this problem, and also because of the cultural need for women to be free of it, more and more women are looking for simple, natural steps to remove facial hair.
The number one rule is to never, ever shave facial hair, ladies. Just ask any man; if you shave it, it grows back quickly and thicker than it was before. One simple way to remove it is to tweeze or pluck it out. This works best when there is just a stray hair here and there, of course. If you have a whole area of facial hair, you will need something more than tweezers.
Waxing facial hair is very common and can be simple and effective; if you don't like the idea of putting all those pre-made waxes on your face, you can try a simple, natural homemade wax.
Honey, heated up in the microwave, is a good, simple, natural alternative to manufactured wax.
If you want to wax, what you do is this. Heat up he wax or wax alternative in the microwave until it is warm but not too hot.
Once it is a spreadable texture, get a Popsicle stick and apply it to the hair. Whichever way the hair is growing, apply it in the same direction. Do a small section at a time. Then, get a small piece of hair-removal cloth, and apply it over top of the wax. Make sure it sticks well to the face.
Then, take one hand and pull the skin tight. With the other hand, remove the cloth by pulling in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Pull really fast! All or most of the hair will come right out. Use tweezers to pluck ant tough strays. Repeat everywhere it is necessary.

Makeup For Redheads
By
Merilee PaigeIf you are a red head and fair skinned, keep your make up as natural looking as possible and use makeup that would highlight your features and give you a healthy glow. Having red hair naturally presents a look of warm skin, but it sometimes makes you look too pink. Use makeup that has more earthy tones or are gold based.
Neutral Foundations
Use foundation bases that are neutral or beige. Avoid using pink tones that will make you look paler or olive tones that can make you look sick. The second lightest shade of Ivory of the Mary Kay makeup cream to powder line is excellent. For those who prefer not to wear makeup, Clinique Superfit Makeup is able to cover wrinkles, flaws, blotches and gives one of the best coverage. It also has a yellowish-base tone product that can be easily be blended into your skin.
Use Soft Blush makeup
A red head can look dramatic and vibrant if you use a soft blush in a reddish-brown shade. If you have peaches and cream complexion, try using blushes that come in very soft pink, sheer pale pinks or sheer peaches. Kevyn Aucoin powder blushes has a nice collection of peaches and pale pink blushes. You can also dust a little gold on your cheek bones to make you look vibrant.
Eye Shadow for Blue Eyes
Keep your blue eyes glowing with neutral brownish colors that can contrast your pale skin. Neutral eye shadow shades look casual but polished. Soft pastels in lilacs, a nice bronze shadow, mid-browns, rich chocolates and champagnes can be used for everyday wear, while greens, plums, and blue shades give a more dramatic look.
Eye Liner
You can put a shimmery bronze or copper eye liner like those of Merle Norman Goldspice or Urban Decay Baked liner to make your eyes light up. Also try the Almay eye shadow Intense I-Color. Their color collections for liners, eye shadows, and mascara can enhance your eye color. The Glimmers collection of Bare Escentuals has a good selection.
Mascara
Use dark brown or red brown colored mascara and avoid using black. Brown enhances the blue color of your eyes and gives your mascara a softer look in contrast to your red hair. If you are strawberry blonde, use light brown shades.
Bronzer makeup
If needed, use a bronzer or concealer under your eyes. One of the best is Physician's Formula's Ice Green concealer blended with a darker concealer shade.
Lipstick
Find a lipstick color that blends well with you skin tone. For your lips, try soft peachy pink, orange reds, peaches, and nudes. Define your lips with a nude lip pencil adding a little stila peach shine gloss. Avoid using hot pinks and bloody reds on your lips. For a polished look, you can try a berry stain on the lips.
When you apply face makeup, you need not match your hair color. Try experimenting with color blends and shades that you feel make you look healthy, vibrant and glowing. Try to play around with tones and colors that can give you a new look that you are comfortable with.

Cosmetics For Beauty
By
Rosalinda MartinezSome people are so obsessed with beauty that they spend their last penny on creams or put on make- up to achieve different looks at different times. These days, it's not surprising to see beauty - conscious women doing those tried and tested tips like putting mayonnaise on the hair, cucumbers on the eyes and even milk or eggs on the face. All these for the sake of beauty.
Undoubtedly, cosmetics has played an important role in women's lives. Superficial or not, most spend endless hours being scrubbed, massaged, exfoliated and made up like a butterfly. You have beauty products for having lovely eyes, sweet fragrances, oil-free foundations, dyes, anti-ageing creams, moisturizers, powders, lipsticks, among others.
"But one should be careful," explains dermatologist Glibenette Tapang - Panlaqui. "Contact dermatitis to cosmetics is common nowadays due to the wide range of products available in the market. The leading cause of skin reactions due to cosmetics is fragrances. Other causes are preservatives such as Bronopol, lanolin, and woolwax alcohols."
The severity of the skin reactions, she says, vary from person to person or from time to time for the same person, due to the conditions of the skin at the time of exposure to a given concentration of the irritant.
"It is therefore advisable to buy products which are labeled hypo-allergenic or non-comedogenic and do a patch test before using the products on the skin to make sure one is not allergic to it, " Dr. Panlaqui adds.
Cosmetic ingredients vary. They come from aloe vera, wheat grain products, essential oils and extracts derived from plants. One of the newest are florabeads which are ideal for facial scrub.
Evidence of mechanical exfoliation dates back as 3,000 BC when honey and salt constituted the main cleansing ingredients of the Egyptian religious community. According to data, exfoliation acids have a long history of use like the baths taken by Cleopatra and Marie Antoinette.
Aside from the scrubs, cosmetics and treatment are reputed to beautify and minimize ageing effects. Hair cosmetics strengthen the hair and scalp as well as color it; lipstick makes one look more attractive; powder makes the skin glow and rosy; and fragrance leaves an enchanting scent. Indeed, the growing complexity of today's market combine make-up and treatment using cosmetics that don't harm the skin.
What are the precautions to take? Don't forget the patch test. Keep away from the sun, use an umbrella or a sunblock lotion. Throw away old make-up. Read labels just like you would food and medicine labels.
Dr. Panlaqui also warned about the following cosmetics and its harmful ingredients:
In axilliary deodorants and antiperspirants, aluminum salts like aluminum chloride or zinc slats (e.g. zinc chloride act as a primary irritant. In roll-ons, the quaternary ammonium compounds may produce allergic contact dermatitis.
In hair dyes, those containing PPDA or paraphenylenediamine may act as sensitizer. Hair bleaches peroxide ad ammonia.
In lipsticks, the perfumes used and di- and tetrabomo -fluorescein in the dyes may cause sensitization reactions.
In eye make-up, be wary of preservatives and perfumes.
In sunscreens, keep away from paraaminobenzoicacid and its esters.
In depigmenting creams, beware of those containing hydroquinone.
Well, while cosmetics really makes a whole lot of difference in enhancing a woman's beauty, there's still no substitute for a radiant and sincere smile.

Is Quick Weight Loss Good Or Bad
By
Jenna MychaelsMany people at one point in their life decide they want to lose weight for different reasons. Some want to trim a few pounds in order to be lean and fit, others need to shed many pounds in order to protect their health. For whatever reason, people just want to lose the weight fast. However, rapid weight loss can at times be harmful for your body. Quick weight loss has its share of both pros and cons.
Some circumstances, like special events you are preparing for, may require you to shed a few pounds fast. If your weight loss has a quickly-approaching deadline, then motivation will not be difficult. The end result will be so clear to you that you wouldn't care what means you took to achieve it.
You'll engage in a radical "crash" diet to shed the pounds. "Crash" diets in the short-term probably will not harm your body. However, crash diets can be harmful to your body if sustained for long durations. The initial stage of your crash diet will help you burn several pounds.
However, as the crash diet goes on and you continue to starve yourself, food binges will be harder to resist and the slightest mistake could set you off to regaining weight fast.
"Crash" diets, on the other hand, can also be advantageous to those who need motivation. The quick reward of fast weight loss is a good motivator to start you off into a healthy lifestyle.
However, remember that you shouldn't stay on a crash diet for too long. Combine a balanced diet with some intense physical activity to keep on losing weight.

The Top Three Nail Polishes
By
M. AdadaA girl wearing nail polish is one of the sexiest things she can do. It gives her a very cute and feminine look. That is why picking a high quality polish is so important!
These are some of the top selling nail polishes today, as well as some information about them, and my personal opinion on them.
Every polish brand listed below is a top seller in America. They have some crucial differences, but they are all of high quality. All of the brands have lots of different colors to choose from, dry quickly, and are resistant to chipping and smudging.
So without further ado, here are the top sellers:
OPI NAIL COLOUR
OPI is the number one brand in America. Ladies love it because it continues to look as good as the day you applied it for weeks on end, and it almost never chips. Plus it has a ton of fun colors, and the names of the colors are awesome! Here are some examples:
Social Climber
Casting Call
On Stage
Dear Diary...
Arm Candy
High Maintanence
Don't go there Charge it!
Domestic Goddess
Ms. Can't be Wrong
And so many more!!
ESSIE NAIL POLISH
Another solid brand is Essie! Like OPI, it lasts a long time on your nail without any signs of wearing thin. It has much more traditional "girly" colors, mostly shades of pink and red. Its a little more subtle than the OPI collection in terms of flashiness, but still an excellent product overall.
ZOYA
This is another great brand of polish, sharing a lot of the great qualities found in OPI and Essie. However, there is one key difference: it is free of DBP.
For those of you that don't know, DBP (dibutyl phthalate) is a toxic chemical that's purpose in nail polish is to make it last longer. Other popular brands (like OPI, Essie, and Sally Hansen) contain small amounts of DBP in their nail polish. In Europe, they forced companies that were manufacturing nail polish with DBP to discontinue using it because of the potential risk associated with exposure. However, with such small quantities of DBP found in nail polish, actual risk due to exposure to DBP in nail polish has never been proven. It is still debated whether there is a true risk, but many pregnant mothers or mothers with newborns choose to use a polish that does not contain DBP.
If DBP is something that concerns you, Zoya is a great polish that doesn't contain DBP.
Those are the best three nail polish brands in America. Pick any of those, and you can't go wrong. Good luck making those nails pretty!

· Phenoxyethanol - is an aromatic ether alcohol used as a preservative. One or more animal studies show endocrine system disruption at high doses, brain and nervous system effects at moderate doses, sense organ effects at very low doses, and in vitro tests non-mammalian cells show positive mutation results.
Environmental Hazards:
· Fragrance - According to Master Herbalist, Klaus Ferlow, wastewater treatment does not remove the constantly increasing quantity and types of fragrance chemicals, many of which are persistent and accumulate in the environment.
· Propylene glycol - is a petroleum derivative and therefore not environmentally friendly.
· Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate - is insoluble in water.
The FDA has approved this as an active ingredient for use in sunscreen products with a concentration no greater than 7.5%.
The damaging side effects (on animals, people, and the environment) of these ingredients outweigh the benefit of it giving us soft, smooth skin. A warning on the commercial product also states, to keep out of reach of children and not for internal use.
There is no doubt the homemade product is healthier than the commercial product. It is both body and environment friendly and relatively simple and inexpensive to make. There are no potentially harmful or unhealthy ingredients in it. This is a perfect example of less is more.

A Few Makeup Tips For Teenagers
By
Merilee PaigeToday being a teenager brings about many pressures especially if you are a girl. Aside from the fact that teenagers have to deal with rigorous academic subjects, the pressure from society and peers to look good adds more stress to teenage life. Media hype in maintaining good looks is everywhere from television, to the Internet and on the covers of magazines.
If you are a teenage girl, there is no harm in experimenting with your looks. You need to learn as early as you can because someday you may have to deal with cosmetics on a daily basis. You just need to be acquainted with a couple of tips in applying makeup and develop a basic daily routine to keep that beautiful face as healthy as possible.
Face and makeup - lightly Important things to remember in applying makeup to your face are: be minimal and be fresh. The more natural the better, as if there is no makeup on your face at all. Do not overdo it. Leave the clown faces in the circus!
More and more cosmetic companies are targeting youth. Most of their products are designed for delicate skin. Before you buy those make up kits, try looking for hypoallergenic products, just in case you have allergies. These types of products will spare you from irritation. Likewise, non-comedogenic products are best for young skin because they do not clog pores and can reduce the outbreak of acne.
For school days, keep your makeup light. A dash of color on the cheeks and a little lip tint will give the effect of a naturally glowing skin. Try light pink shades for a start. Some teens prefer to apply eye liners, however eye liners will make you appear much older. If you must, avoid the black shade and go for the browns.
During parties, you may want to jazz it up a little bit. Here are some makeup beauty tips:
- For better coverage, use a cosmetic foundation. Apply it evenly on your face. Make sure to choose a shade darker than your skin tone not lighter. You don't want to look like a kabuki!
- Your eyebrows should be well trimmed. A well polished eyebrow will definitely give you a more elegant look.
- For your eyes, use a lighter shade (white or cream) to apply from the lid to the brow. With a darker shade of brown or golden brown, from the inner lid to the upper lid until you reach the crease line. Blend it well.
- Use a dark brown pencil for eye makeup liner. Apply it by tracing your upper lid and finish off by smudging it with a cotton bud.
- Now for the finishing touches, apply mascara, a bit of blush to your cheeks and your favorite lipstick.
If you want to have a shimmering effect, you can apply glitter face makeup for your face and body.
After enjoying the night, remember to take off the makeup. Follow the 3 step facial care regimen: Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing, to keep you face healthy and blemish free.
