Cut Hair at Home - Easy First Steps

There are many reasons why you might want to learn to cut hair at home. We all like to save money and a visit to the salon can be an expensive affair these days, or maybe you see cutting hair as a nice and easy way to earn a little cash on the side. In any case, I am glad to be able to tell you that cutting your own hair - or other peoples - is not actually as hard as it seems.

This short article will tell you the basics and then show you how you can go on to make a really professional job of cutting hair.

Every tradesman needs a good set of tools and you are no exception so first up get a set of hair clippers and a pair of hairdressers scissors. Don't shell out on expensive brands, unless you really want to, just get some that feel good to you. You should ensure that the razor comes with plenty of guide combs which will enable you to cut hair at home to a variety of different lengths as well as a range of different hair types.

Once you have your clippers make sure you oil them up. Next, we turn our attention to the victim - I mean the customer - make sure they have washed their hair and dried it as you want the hair to be clean but not wet as this will clog up your clippers. When you cut hair at home and not in a salon you have to ensure you have plenty of room to work. You must ensure that you can reach all parts of the head at a variety of angles to ensure a clean smooth cut. When you have cut the hair to the desired length and style, remember to tidy up, remove the guides of the clipper and razor trim the sideburns.

Practice makes perfect when trying to cut hair at home, don't worry if its not perfect first time - as long as your customer doesn't mind either of course.
