All About Hands - Winter Skin Care
By
Olena EHow many times this winter have you struggled with the unpleasant feeling of completely dry hands? Heating, cold, nasty weather, wind, house cleaning and numerous other factors make our hands become a source of permanent discomfort, especially in winter. While it is definitely recommended to use creams and moisturizers with vitamins and minerals, it is also very easy and efficient to use organic skin care methods: they are natural, affordable and extremely effective.
Tip no. 1: Wash your hands with room temperature water. Cold water makes skin become rough and in some cases peel; hot water dries it.
Tip no. 2: Beauty tubs for hands:
• Starch fights sandpapery skin: dissolve 1 tbs. of starch in water (1 l.), keep your hands in the solution for 15 min. and rinse it off with warm water.
• Sea salt beats wet palms: dissolve 1 tsp. of sea salt in warm water (1 l.), keep your hands in the solution for 5-10 min. every day (for about 7 days in a row depending on how bad the problem is).
• Eggs and oil help weather-beaten hands: thoroughly mix 1 egg yellow with 1 tbs. of olive oil and 1 tsp. of natural honey, cover and leave it on for 15-20 min.
As a final touch, use a small amount of hand moisturizer or cream after any hands' beauty tub.
A word about healthy looking nails:
1. Nutrition is your no. 1 weapon: vitamin A (tomatoes, carrots, greens) and calcium (dairy products) help nails stay firm.
2. Vitamin E (sunflower seeds, oil) nourishes nails.
3. Vitamin B (cabbage, egg yellows) and iodine (spinach, sea grass) stimulate nail growth.
4. Lemon juice eliminates yellowish nail color after using nail polish removers with acetone (just use a small piece of lemon as a nail wipe).
After all, nobody should be able to tell how old you are by looking at your hands even in winter!

Get Those Smoky Eyes - How to Achieve the Smoky Eye Look
By
Jo RushworthThe best way to achieve a sultry and smouldering smoky eye look is to make sure colours are blended together perfectly. Use a deep colour to add definition to your socket and a lighter colour, preferably cream or skin-tone for your base. Get those smoky eyes that can bring men to their knees, if done correctly. Read on for the best tips on how to achieve the ultimate smoky eye look.
As an alternative to the traditional dark brown or black, try deep purple, plum, dark blue, dark green or copper to soften the look and enhance your eye colour.
The first step is to prepare your lid. Dab on an eyeshadow primer as this will keep your eyelids oil free and prevent the eyeshadow melting into your eyelid crease.
Take the lighter base eyeshadow and sweep over your lids from your lash line to your browbone. Be quite generous with this as it will make it easier to add the darker colour.
Once the base has been applied, you are ready for the eyeliner.
Using black, charcoal or a dark colour eye pencil that complements your eyeshadow, draw a line above the upper lash line making the line thicker in the middle, then blend in gently to soften the edge of the line.
Use a liner brush and go over the liner with your darker eyeshadow, stretching across the lid just short of where your eyeliner ends. Soften, blend and smudge to eliminate harsh lines.
Now, gradually blend in a little of the darker colour into the lighter base, Starting from your lash line, brush upwards to just below the crease. For best results, build it up slowly rather than adding too much dark at once..
For the lower lash line you will need to use a lighter eyeliner. Apply a small amount of shadow to get the smudge effect.
Finish with two coats of volumizing mascara. Get the wand as close to the roots as possible, then gently blink as you draw it through your lashes. Use an eyelash curler for more dramatic results.
Remember to keep your lips neutral to give smoky eyes their real impact.

Eyebrow Waxing Tips
By
Jane Mac DonaldBrush eyebrow into place with a toothbrush or clean mascara wand, so that their natural shape is neatly defined.
Apply an astringent to anesthetize the sensitive skin under the brow.
Work out your natural brow shape by standing several feet away from a mirror
Bring a professional waxing kit from market - basically a jar or tub of wax which can be warmed up in boiling water and applied with a small applicator or spatula, and (usually muslin) removal strips.
Warm up the wax to optimum temperature and use the small spatula to apply a thin layer of wax to the growth. Make sure that you only use a small amount of wax on the spatula to avoid the wax dripping when it is applied.
Apply wax with the hair growth under the eyebrow, (i.e. in the same direction that the hair grows in).
Never wax above the eyebrow, only ever shape from below. Waxing from under the brow will widen your eyes and help to get the line even. As soon as it is applied remove the wax against the hair growth. Do this by gently smoothing a piece of cotton muslin over the waxed area.
It is a good idea to take a little hair off at a time, especially if you have fairly this growth.
Any straggly hairs left over after waxing can be easily plucked out using a set of good tweezers.
Apply a soothing balm like tea tree oil onto the area afterwards.
To give the gorgeous new eyebrow shape, use an eyebrow pencil or tinted brow shadow to subtly fill in any gaps, and even out the natural color tone.

Causes And Treatment Of Dark Circles Under The Eyes
By
Predrag IljicThere are many causes for dark circles under the eyes, the most common ones are : Hereditary reasons, the more transparent your skin, an inherited trait, the darker the circles appear. It could also be because you have inherited certain facial features (e.g. If you have deep-set eyes). Allergies - Any hidden allergies release histamine which makes the blood vessels more inflamed. Nasal congestion - the veins from the eyes drain into the veins of the nose. If the nose is blocked up, the veins around the eyes become larger and darker.
Medications - Any medications that you are taking that causes blood vessels to dilate, can cause circles under the eyes to darken. Because the skin under the eyes is very delicate, any increase blood flow shows through the skin. Ill health - Appearance of dark circles may indicate problems or weakness in the kidney or liver activity. Exposure to the sun - Sun exposure, which triggers the skin pigment melanin to increase, may result in a darker appearance.
Iron deficiency - It is believed that lack of mineral iron can cause dark circles as well. Iron deficiency is the most common type of anemia and this condition is a sign that not enough oxygen is getting to the body tissues.
Treatment of dark circles under the eyes can be very challenging, especially for long term symptoms. It is important to identify the underlying cause instead of wasting money for expensive creams that may actually make the symptoms worse (e.g. if you are allergic to any of the substances used in those fancy creams).
First line of treatment would be getting a comprehensive test for allergies (both inhalant and food tests). Improving life style may benefit your health as well - try to reduce your stress, sleep more and take the necessary vitamins and supplements. The lack of nutrients ( e.g.Vitamin C, Iron, Vitamin K, Folic Acid) in the diet, or the lack of a balance diet, can contribute to the discoloration of the area under the eyes. Vitamins C & K strengthen the capillary walls and blood vessel walls.
Avoid caffeine, sugar-rich drinks and alcohol. Drink plenty of water; at least eight glasses a day. Regular exercise is always helpful, Cold water will cause blood vessels to constrict and reduce swelling.

Men And Beauty
By
Munir MoosaWhat is the first thing people notice about you? I guess, it's your face. Healthy skin is the most important element of a great looking face.
The world perception has been changed, and makeover is no more a cup of tea of women. Last month, I visited Naheed Super Market to conduct a research on the new available products for males. I was quiet content to see many cosmetic companies' products, now available for men in a large variety, because an increasing number of men are making grooming a priority to preserve a youthful appearance and a winning edge in today's competitive world.
A number of companies are fulfilling market demands by introducing masculine beauty products globally. No doubt, there are still few males, who are against using beauty products; because they feel shame in using grooming products and skin care is a mere afterthought for them. But in my opinion, it is nothing else than narrow perception to think such rearward in today's modern epoch.
Today men are increasingly aware and concerned about the health and appearance of their skin. More men than ever are interested in taking better care of their skin & a simple daily ritual of cleansing & moisturizing will keep skin & hair looking healthy.
Have you seen that advertisement on TV, where a male applying female fairness cream All the male Movie Stars are applying make-up and taking care of their skin, due to which, an aged actor looks even younger than his actual age. The reason behind the youthful appearance of the famous Movie Stars like Amitabh Bachan, Shahrukh Khan, etc is proper skin care.
Media has brought a revolution in the industry of beauty products, and now every youngster is looking for the products in the market, which could uphold their long lasting impression. We know that men skin is more resistant.

Brazilian Bikini Waxing Virgins - What You Should Know
By
Feuza ReisYou probably heard about the Brazilian Bikini Waxing on some TV show like 'Sex in the City' or Oprah perhaps you have read about it in some magazine and sparked curiosity in getting one done but yo'u'e not sure if it is right for you. Well for some going Brazilian has become a natural part of their monthly routine while for others it is a thought they are battling in their heads. If you are in either situation, here are some tips, which will aid you in your decision and keep you going in your hygiene and look.
First and foremost, what is a Brazilian Bikini Wax? As mentioned in my other article "Brazilian Bikini Wax- Hear the real story" a Brazilian Bikini Wax is the hair removal of pubic region using hot wax. A Brazilian Bikini Wax has become known in the USA as the full removal of pubic hair and not only the bikini line. Please keep in mind that you do not have to remove all pubic hair and that there are several different looks one can get you must decide which one is right for you.
Will it hurt? absolutely but the pain does lesson with time, for more info on the pain factor- read my next article "Tips on Lessoning the Bikini Wax PAIN". Will it be uncomfortable? Absolutely; it is similar to going to your gynecologist. You go into a room and they say take your clothes off and you lay in an uncomfortable position, but all of this will change once you become familiar with the procedure and place. Here are some important steps for you first timers.
1- Find a waxing salon that is experienced in Bikini Waxing. The best places are the ones friends recommend. Word of mouth is best option so you can get a feel of the place, it's staff, and price. As a native Brazilian, I recommend Brazilian Waxoligists.
2- Prepare your self mentally. You need to first think about the reasons behind your decision. Is it to please a mate, to please your self of it can be for plain hygiene. Most women who get one done on a routine basis start out with reasons #1 and #2 but lean towards the #3 later. It gives them a clean fresh feel and look. It is like that feeling of getting your car cleaned or your hair done, just got do it. Also preparing your self mentally for the pain is important. It is not like getting a tattoo but there is some pain involved. The most vital thing is to relax and let the expert do her job.
3- Prepare your self physically. Plan your appointment wisely, on a day where you are not crazy busy and have time to preferably shower, arrive early and ask any questions you might have. Some people like to take Motrin or Advil before their appointment to ease the pain
4- Prepare your self financially. A good Brazilian Waxing place will charge from $40-$60 for a full Bikini. If it is too cheap, I would be skeptical, I would not think I found a great deal but would be concerned that if they do authentic Brazilian Waxing.
Still thinking if it is right for you? All experiences are not the same, so you will not know until you try it but now you have a better understanding of the process and price. Once you go through it you will know if it is something you will do again. Some say they will not but find them selves coming back for more it makes them feel great about them selves while others can not see themselves with out it. Let us face it, it is really about you, your needs and wants. You can share your stories on my blog:

Natural Beauty Is In - A Cup Of Tea
By
Olena EBeauty has many tools in the modern world: cosmetic products, makeup, fitness, etc. (even surgeries). However, the least expensive and the most organic tools are the ones that come from nature. And lots of them we already use every day without even knowing how powerful they can be. Here is one of beauty recipes that also boosts health: a cup of flavorful green tea.
For the best tea ever you will need a small tea pot (one full tea cup) and 3 tea spoons of green pleasure. It is important that you don't overheat the water: it shouldn't boil. The perfect temperature is when it's about to boil and many tiny bubbles start going up to the water surface. Once the tea leaves and water are combined you should not wait for more than 3-5 min.
This is how long it takes for the most valuable ingredients to be transferred into your drink (vitamins, amino acids, caffeine, alkaloids, minerals, etc.). If tea sits too long, the drink also contains harmful elements that are recognized by bitter tea taste and brownish film staying in your tea cup afterwards. It is also not recommended to heat up or boil prepared tea.
After 3-5 min. pour your tea from one cup into another 3 times. It helps filling tea with oxygen and valuable elements are transferred into the water faster.
Don't drink your cup of tea all at once; the best is to divide it into 3 stages. It is also best not to eat or drink anything for 30 min. before and after your 'tea escape'. Tea prepared this way is very healthy and benefits your heart, stomach, liver, and blood-making organs. Its caffeine stimulates your body, cardiovascular system; vitamin P reduces blood pressure, tannins improve digestion, and amino acids renew exhausted nervous system. The December 2007 issue of Allure magazine also featured teas as a natural and innovative tool of skincare. The Body News section talks about the studies proving that "green and black teas have been shown to prevent skin cancer" and refers to tea as a skin-protection drink.
And finally (to make it the best tea EVER) do not forget to smile, relax and enjoy! :-)
The same technique can be used for preparing black tea but it comes out really strong. For more natural beauty recipes and comments please visit

How To Make Your Eyes Attractive And Lift Your Spirit This Christmas
By
Sharon A BellThe eyes are the most expressive features of your face. Even if you mask a smile, your eyes will surely reveal your real feelings and emotions. The eyes are also the first things that people notice. Thus, if you have tired-looking eyes, your overall appearance will surely suffer. If you want a makeover and you want to be fabulous this holiday season, the facial features that you need to prioritize are your eyes.
There are really numerous ways in which you can make your eyes look fabulous. If you have the money, you can always opt to undergo cosmetic eye surgery to remove puffiness, to make your eyes smaller or bigger, to put crease on your eyelids and many more. However, cosmetic eye surgery usually costs a lot. If you are a regular gal just like everyone else, you do not have much money to spend; and even if you do, you just won't spend it for such an operation.
Do not be sad. There are many more affordable ways to bring out the beauty of your eyes. Read on and discover how you can make your eyes sparkle this holiday season:
Power Of Make Up
Do not underestimate the power of make up. Many Hollywood celebrities have become more fabulous and beautiful with just some color. Concealer is used to hide flaws, such as dark circles under the eyes and fine lines and wrinkles. Mascara can make your lashes thicker and your eyes bigger, while eyeliner can emphasize the beauty of your eyes. Use eye shadows to highlight the color of your eyes and highlight your assets. Be sure to pay attention to your eyebrows too. They are important in making you look younger and opening up your eyes.
Fancy Contact Lenses
Contact lenses were created to help remedy some eye problems, such as astigmatism, far sightedness or near sightedness. Nowadays, many people use contact lenses, particularly the colored ones, for aesthetic purposes. If you want more drama or you want to match your eyes with the color of your hair, wearing colored contact lenses is the way to do that. You can also surprise your friends and family by wearing green, gray, violet or even amber lenses.
There are also some fancy contact lenses available. If you want to have cat's eyes, lizard eyes, smiley-face-eyes or pink eyes, you can wear fancy contact lenses. These out-of-this-world designs can make you stand out in parties during the holiday season. Be imaginative and don't be afraid to go against the rules sometimes.
Eyeglasses Galore
You really do not have to look like an old lady just because you need to wear corrective eyeglasses. There are different types of eyeglasses in the market and you do not need to own just one pair. Treat your eyeglasses as accessories. You can have horned-rimmed glasses if you want to look professional, diamond encrusted glasses for night-outs, big colorful fancy plastic eyeglasses for dates and parties, and many others.
Sunglasses Are Not Just For Protection
Just like eyeglasses, sunglasses are good accessories. Aside from protecting your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun, these glasses are also effective ways to cover your imperfections. If you really cannot get rid of your puffy eyes or dark eye circles, you can always wear sunglasses when you go out during the day.
All-Purpose Eye Cream
Aside from make up and accessories, you need a good eye cream to help minimize blemishes and imperfections. You need an eye cream that will help get rid of your fine lines, remedy skin discolorations, reduce puffiness, and even lighten dark circles. One eye product that is effective in restoring the health of the skin surrounding your eyes is Eyederma. Know more about this product by visiting

You're Beautiful Inside - Now Lets Work On the Outside or Did Your Mom Ever Show You?
By
Don ColeHonestly answer this question. Are you Happy when you look in the mirror or are you just satisfied or even worse are you disappointed with the way you look. Join the crowd if you are not Happy with the way you look, and you know what -it takes a toll on the way you carry yourself. Many people find themselves in this all too unpopular situation. We don't eat right, we don't exercise, we need those Jenny Jones makeovers but she's not around anymore. Now What? Oh my Beautiful Sleeping Beauty instead of closing your eyes open them and enter into a realm of your future key to beauty secrets and tips that transform the present ugly duckling into the not so distant future princess.
We are constantly battered with the pretty faces and hot bodies of our modern day society. The beautiful stars and top models that pop up every second on television and print ads. We look at them and wish we could be as attractive. We look in the mirror and we notice the blemishes, the stretch marks, the bad hair life, the breast that need work, the smile we rather cover with our hand, and the list goes on and on. We see this everyday and then go out in the world with this in our heart and soul. We don't interact with people the way we would if we felt Happy with our selves. Our social interactions are limited and our quest for true love is hindered. We all want that quest for true love fulfilled, heck that is one of the reasons of the Meaning of Life.
You start off by saying My name is ........ and I am not Happy with the way I look and I need help so that I can enjoy my life fully as I am supposed to do.
Then you take the necessary steps. You figure where you want to start. Start with setting goals and accomplishing them. Don't quit-never never quit-always know you never see a Rose growing to its beauty because the growth is slow and subtle but the growth is definitely there and the beauty comes.
There are many ways we can overcome genetics and many ways we can use our modern day information and products to give us the beauty and attractiveness we desire so much. Don't go for 15 minutes of fame-take it all everyday. When we know we look good we become more secure and when we become more secure the world is in our hands to do do as we will. Live life to the fullest.

7 Eye Makeup Tips For A Romantic Date
By
Janice WeeRomance is in the air. So what are you wearing for your date?
A sexy dress with a plunging neckline? Jeans and a pretty top? A feminine dress that his mom might approve?
How about your makeup? You could look more stunning than ever with the right makeup. Now what would be appropriate for the date? What does he like?
If naturally pretty types appeal to him, goth makeup would turn him off. Natural looking makeup would be your best bet. If he likes girls that are sweet and soft, dragon lady makeup might scare him off. Something soft and pretty would work. If he prefers dangerous women, sultry lips or smokey eyes for that vamp look would probably work.
In any case, you could wear your regular makeup, or you could try something different. The eye makeup is the toughest to do, so this article would focus on your eyes. For a romantic date, go for the radiant, pretty look, rather than ice lady or goth, unless, he is a goth boy or someone who prefers ice to warmth.
1. Pick a main eye shadow color that flatter you.
If you have warm skin tones, go for corals, salmons, peaches and browns as the main eye shadow color. Coral eye shadow over the entire eyelid, balanced with a smokey charcoal or dark brown in the crease of the lid and a shimmery beige for highlights.
If you have cool skin tones, are your eyes blue or green? Do they have blue or green flecks? An eye shadow in that exact shade of blue or green as the main shadow color would bring out your gorgeous eye color. If your eyes are dark brown or black, a contrasting color like lilac might work better.
2. Use a pale shimmer for your highlighter
If your skin color is warm, go for a pale gold highlighter or a shimmery warm beige or very pale shimmery peach. If you are dark, go for an amber or a darker gold. If your skin color is cool, go for a silver, cool beige or a pale pink for your highligher.
3. Line your eyes with an eye pencil then go over the line with a eye shadow in a matching shade so it would last.
4. If you have dark circles under the eyes, hide them with
concealer makeup. Before you put on makeup, you might want to lie down with a slice of cucumber over each closed eye to reduce the puffiness.
5. When you line your eyes, apply or remove eye makeup, never tug the delicate skin around the eyes. You may cause wrinkles to form earlier because of rough handling.
6. Have a cotton bud and eye makeup remover handy in case of mistakes. You can dip the cotton bud in eye makeup and use that to erase mascara smudges or makeup mishaps.
7. Finish off with mascara. Making it clump free is tricky. Read
How to apply mascara for step by step instructions on applying mascara.
Here's a step by step guide on how to apply eyeshadow:

Leave it for a few minutes and rinse hair with Luke warm water. After this again rinse with a paste of water and apple cider vinegar. If your hair is very dry, infusions of elderflower, parsley or sage is a great home remedy for dry, frizzy hair and it will calm the frizz and restore moisture. Greasy or oily hair will benefit from a rinse made with lemon balm, rosemary, lavender or mint. Add a teaspoon of lavender oil to the coconut oil and heat it for few seconds. Massage the scalp at night and shampoo the hair next morning. Essential fatty acids found in Evening Primrose oil and Flax Seed oil can restore hair growth.
Collagen that is so essential for luxurious hair is found in Silica. Zine (30 mg) can boost thyroid function and reduce hair loss that comes from an underactive thyroid. Butterfly Pea herb has been used in ancient Thai herbal medicine to treat hair loss and prematurely grey hair for many decades. Amla is very useful for restoring the normal acid in hair such as the balance of alkaline. Reetha and Shikakai is very useful and powerful for healthy hair. One should drink large quantity of water, unsweetened fruit juice and herbal teas for healthy hair. Avoid or minimize excessive use of alcohol as it dilate blood vessels and increase flow of blood to the tissues. The right shampoo should remove the sebum that is secreted by the scalp.

Nail Care
By
Mary RoseNail Care should be a part of your regular beauty routine as your well groomed nails will give you instant beauty credibility. If you use your hands a lot when you talk then they are also going to get plenty of attention from the person you are trying to attract. Treat them well and you will do just fine. The nail can be damaged by nail-biting, scratching the nail folds, bad manicuring, or trauma such as slamming a finger in a car door. Damaged nails may appear ridged or cracked and broken. If they do not appear normal after about one year, then most likely the nail matrix has been damaged and the nail will never be normal again.
Your fingernails are definitely the mirror of your health. Before kick starting the nail care procedure ask yourself these simple questions. Do the nails look strong and healthy? Or is there a ridge, or areas of unusual color or shape? The condition of the nails may give out information about the general health. Consult a doctor for any unusual appearance in the nails.
Learn some quick and useful tips on basic nail care here:
When you wear nail polish, give your nails a break from time to time. Use nail polish remover less as possible-especially those containing acetone. They will dry nails out. I suggest using them no more than once a week.
Never peel or scrap off nail polish or use metal instruments on the nail surface to push back the cuticles. This can scrap off the protective cells of the nail surface. Break the habit of nail biting-it can lead to infections and deform the nail.
The prominence of olive oil in nail care cannot be overlooked. Soak your fingernails in olive oil to soften your cuticles and help brittle nails become more resilient.
Avoid strong soaps and detergents, they can dry out nails and cause them to split. Always wear rubber gloves when using detergent or doing the washing up. If nails tend to darken, a drop of lemon oil massaged into the nail plate may work.
Finally, try to avoid the nails doing the pick ups.Instead use the soft ends of the finger rather. Avoid wrapping nails unless your nails are prone to breaking. It is laborious and difficult to do without help. Very important way to fingernail care is through planned and balanced diet. The right kind of foods is absolutely essential for nail care and can easily bring a healthy glow to your fingernails.

Even Great Hair Needs Attention
By
Sashi SardaHealthy hair is one of the best assets for every human being as it is closely associated with looking good. Each one of us wants to have quality hair. Sooner or later, when hair loss and other hair related problems start creeping in, we start blaming our genes. Little do we realize that the graying of the hair or any other problem might be due to our improper care? Let's look into few useful tips that may help your hair to remain healthy and free from hair related problems.
A good oil massage is one of the most important things that vitalize the hair and the scalp. Blood circulation to the scalp improves thereby rejuvenating the hair follicles and the hair cells. This makes the root of the hair grow stronger and make the hair grow thicker. Also, hair cells continue to renew themselves giving rise to hair follicles and the building blocks of proteins called the keratins. It prevents thinning of hair and makes them smooth and silky. It also prevents baldness to a large extent. Rosemary, jojoba and coconut oil are best suited for everyday use for the hair.
Your hair bears the brunt of all type of dust, dirt and pollution while you are out in the open. They stick to the scalp and block the pores that are important for hair growth. To avoid it, a regular hair wash is recommended to avoid dandruff and flakes. Greater care should to be taken to select a quality shampoo that is mild and effective for your hair. Herbal shampoos have proved to very effective as they have negligible amount of chemicals and almost no side effects. Wrap your hair with a warm towel after washing them. Remember to use a quality conditioner after shampooing your hair to make them smooth and shiny.
Take Sarah. Covering her hair with a head gear while she moves in the open has greatly prevented her hair from going brittle. Hairs are very vulnerable to ultra violet rays. Excessive exposure to sun rays may make your hair brittle leading them to break. It may also result in grey hairs.
Avoid using hair color on a regular basis. If you want to hide your grey hairs, either opt for herbal powder that causes no side effects or quality hair colors that are known to be fool proof and effective. A cheap hair color with an overdose of chemicals may cause permanent damage to your hair. Seek advice of a hair doctor before going for hair coloring. Avoid using peroxide on a regular basis as it may result in tremendous damage to the hair at times leading to baldness.
Go for a hair style that suits your face rather than getting fascinated and adopting the one that is latest in fashion. Refrain from changing your hair style too often as frequent twist and turns tend to make the hair roots weak leading to hair loss. Natural curls are good but artificial curls may damage your hairs to such an extent that they start loosing their shine and texture. Before going for any type of birth control pills or a prolonged dose of antibiotics it is strongly recommended that you consult a doctor about its side effects and ensure that it does not harm your hair.
Adhering to these basic tips may help you in keeping healthy hair and prevent all types of hair related problems from occurring. Regular upkeep of hair may prevent even the dreaded problem like baldness. Inculcate these habits to maintain a healthy crown all throughout.

Puffy Eyes Or Dark Under Eye Circles? A Natural Solution That Works!
By
Tommy EnganHumans share a very important survival trait with camels - a trait that causes a lot of us to suffer from puffy eyes and dark under eye circles. Try all you might to get rid of your puffy eyes and dark under eye circles, but until you learn and apply this information, you are spinning your wheels.
The secret? The one trait camels unfortunately share with humans is - water retention. You see, when the body is dehydrated, it functions like a camel's hump; storing water for the long trip across the desert. But instead of getting a camel's hump, you'll develop water reserves around your eyes, which can be seen as puffy eyes and dark under eye circles.
In addition to storing water, toxins can also form under your eyes if you don't drink enough water (that's why you look slightly puffy eyed if you've been drinking the night before, as alcohol dehydrates). As time goes by, without your body receiving enough water, your eyes will start getting that "old" look.
The solution? Keep yourself hydrated - drink water! As you do, your body doesn't enter survival mode and won't puff/darken up under your eyes. For a significant improvement in your skin, drink 8 or more 10-ounce glasses of water every day.
It sounds easy - almost too good to be true; drink water and dramatically reduce puffy eyes and dark under eye circles - but it does work wonders. The thing is, most people aren't disciplined enough to do this, so they never reap the great benefits it offers. They start off strong, but as the days and weeks go by, their dehydrating habits return, along with their puffy eyes and dark under eye circles.
A wonderful solution is to use what I call rubberbanding. You buy a pack of rubber bands and a
20-ounce (standard size) water bottle at any grocery store. Every time you finish a bottle, wrap one rubber band around the empty bottle. Now fill it up again and repeat until your bottle has 4 rubber bands on it. That way, you'll know that you have consumed exactly eight 10-ounce glasses of water in a day.
The con? The bathroom will see a lot more of you:-).
The pro? The person looking back at you in that bathroom mirror will be smiling a lot wider, as your puffy eyes and dark under eye circles start fading as the weeks go by.
Click for more suggestions to dramatically reduce
puffy eyes and dark under eye circles.

Is Beauty Really Only Skin-Deep?
By
Samantha ChangOver "coffee tawk" last weekend, several friends and I discussed little things we do to cheer ourselves up when feeling down. Interestingly, a common theme emerged: When women get down in the dumps, enhancing our appearance instantly lifts our spirits.
For example, one friend says putting on red lipstick cheers her up. Another says buying a new pair of shoes makes her giddy, while still another says getting a hip new 'do at the hair salon cures her blues. Obviously, these are temporary fixes for minor mood swings and not long-term treatments for deeply rooted problems, but it's amazing how little things can make us feel better.
In her book Why I Wore Lipstick: To My Mastectomy, cancer survivor Geralyn Lucas writes that wearing lipstick during her treatment was a way to send a life-affirming message to herself and others even as she was facing death.
"Lipstick was about living," Lucas writes. "Lipstick was being hopeful and having a future. I think lipstick is the antithesis of all the things breast cancer patients go through, and to somehow reclaim it, to wear it on my terms, felt so crazy but also made perfect sense."
Making Our Lives 'Prettier'
Recent scientific research also suggests that looking good makes you feel good. In a study of people with facial pigmented spots, a Japanese research team found that subjects whose facial pigments were successfully concealed with makeup experienced a measurable boost to their immune system versus those who did not wear concealing makeup.
Other notable examples are obese people who dramatically change their clothing styles, jobs and even romantic partners after losing large amounts of weight. It's as if looking better gave them the confidence and motivation to make positive changes in other areas of their lives. As superficial as that may sound, it's further proof that looks do matter, not only to how others perceive and receive us, but how we feel about and perceive ourselves.
We've all experienced how stress can wreak havoc on our nervous system, immune system and sleep patterns. And oftentimes, when we're stressed out, we look terrible. Conversely, scientists say that the "positive stress" induced by an improved self-image can boost an individual's overall health. Just as taking a walk outdoors on a beautiful sunny day can invigorate the body, wearing flattering makeup or soaking in a luxurious bath can improve the psyche. Caring for one's body contributes to personal stability and self-confidence, researchers say.
"The art of handling your self-image can take on a great deal of importance in the healthcare field," according to Professor Louis Dubertret of the Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris. Cosmetics specially developed for older people--not to rejuvenate them, but just allow them to remain attractive--have relevance for healthcare. We have all seen the correlation between self-neglect, depression, de-socialization, and loss of intellectual and emotional capacities in the elderly."
Boosting Self Image
The time we devote to taking care of our appearance can help enhance harmony between the body and the mind and improve self-image, researchers say. That's why hospital staffers emphasize washing and shaving as key to restoring a patient's good health. In fact, the British Red Cross has recently begun incorporating cosmetology and makeup in hospital care programs to help improve patients' physical well-being and self-esteem.
Similarly, "The Look Good, Feel Better" program that has been running in the U.S. for the past 10 years offers beauty-care treatment to chemotherapy patients. The boost in self-image that accompanies the attentive application of makeup has been found to have a powerful effect on accelerating recovery, scientists say. Why? Because looking good can help you feel good.

Quick Tips For Better Skin And Fewer Wrinkles
By
Kim GillettTop tips to protect your skin
The best way to keep your skin healthy is to avoid sun exposure. UV radiation also can pass through water, so don't assume you're safe if you're in the water and feeling cool.
Use sunscreen like Seriesse's SPF 30 sunscreen. A higher number means longer protection.
Wear protective clothing. A hat with a wide brim shades your neck, ears, eyes, and head.
Avoid artificial tanning.
Check your skin often.
Seriesse offers a complete line of skin care products to help you prevent and reduce the signs of aging. From the A Essentials line to the ultimate skin care indulgence - Super Creamerum.
Imagine a product containing all the major key ingredients that are the buzz in the industry today - Alpha Lipoic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Vitamin C Esters, CoQ10, Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Glycolic Acids and Antioxidants. Visit www.myseriesse.com/seriesseskincare for more great products to prevent and reduce the signs of aging!
Skin Facts
Your skin does many things including protecting you from the environment, regulating your body temperature, helping with fluid and electrolyte balance, and providing receptors for sensations such as touch, pain, and pressure.
Although skin has many layers, it can be generally divided into three main portions. The outer portion (epidermis) contains skin cells, pigment, and proteins. The middle portion (dermis) contains blood vessels, nerves, hair follicles, and oil glands. The dermis provides nutrients to the epidermis.
Your skin changes as you age. You'll notice wrinkles, age spots and dryness. Your skin can also become thinner and loses fat, making it less plump and smooth. Sunlight is a major cause of skin aging. You can protect yourself by staying out of the sun when it is strongest, using sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding sunlamps and tanning beds. Cigarette smoking also contributes to wrinkles. The wrinkling increases with the amount of cigarettes and number of years a person has smoked.
Over time, the sun's ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. Wrinkles form after the breakdown of these fibers. This breakdown causes the skin to lose its ability to snap back after stretching. Gravity also causes the skin to pull and sag, primarily on the face, neck, and upper arms.
As you age, the loss of sweat and oil glands worsen dry skin. Dehydration, sun exposure, smoking, and stress also can also cause dry skin.
The most common treatment for dry skin is moisturizers, like Seriesse's Olive Oil Essentials line. These moisturizers are used to reduce water loss and soothe the skin. You may need to apply them frequently to relieve the signs and symptoms of dryness. Moisturizers should be used indefinitely to prevent recurrence of dry skin.

Comeback of the Mustache? I Don't Think So
By
Auria CortesThere is an ugly rumor circulating about the return of the 1970s mustache-wearing male finding his way to the 21st century. Is this a backlash to the metrosexual era? Is this a way for the "regular guy" to reclaim his masculinity? Is this a way of making food stuck to a man's face acceptable?
As a single woman, I strongly object to this horrific trend.
I'm not going to throw around careless accusations against facial hair. That just wouldn't be right. Rather, my approach will be fair and balanced. You know, the reporting style made famous by Fox News.
For starters, the mustache reminds me of 1970s porn. As a kid, I wasn't always able to recognize the vital body parts through the scrambled Playboy Channel, but I could always tell if the man was wearing a mustache. Not a sexy scene, my friends.
Sticking with the 1970s theme, my father sported a mustache back then, and I don't want to date a man that resembles him. That's taking the Father Complex theory way too far.
Most importantly, I have very sensitive skin. In fact, so sensitive that I once went out on a date with a man that had facial hair and after three hours of lip smacking, my skin became so irritated that I developed a rash. Sure, you can make the argument that the rash was due to the marathon-long make-out session, not the mustache per se, but this isn't a time to be logical.
Let's keep the focus of this post where it belongs, on the ill-conceived return of the mustache.
I'm not prejudiced; I'm against all mustaches.
Pencil mustache? No way. It reminds me of John Waters.
The toothbrush? Um, no. Charlie Chaplin donned that one for a reason: it's funny-looking.
Horseshoe-style mustache? Nice try. Hulk Hogan can get away with it is because wrestlers are cartoon-like.
Magnum, P. I. mustache? Oh, now you're playing dirty (I like that), but chances are you don't look like Tom Selleck. Psssssst. If you share his rugged good looks, e-mail me your digits.
Guys, take it from me. I won't steer you wrong. There is a reason the mustache trend died a slow death. Here's a hint: men aren't supposed to be walking buffets, able to select from an assortment of late-night snacks trapped in their hippielips.
I'm just sayin'.

Cosmetics and Beauty Products - Good For You Too
By
A. CovingtonFirst it was healthy food; then came a push for sustainable living. Now even clothes are organic. It only makes sense that the products you put on your body are good for you too.
From shampoo to lipstick and perfume to face creams, you can now live an entirely all-natural existence (won't you sleep better at night?)
Fragrance that does a body good
LAVANILA has introduced what they claim is "the World's Premier Healthy Fragrance." The concept is novel: instead of loading fragrances with harsh synthetic ingredients that dry and damage skin, they use healthy ingredients that nurture and condition the body with each spray. In a time when everyone's concerned about global warming (er, global climate change), and toxic chemicals, this product launch couldn't be any timelier.
LAVANILA's sensual vanilla blends are meant to "captivate the senses" but they also nurture the skin with a healthy dose of pure essential oils, 100 percent natural botanicals, and super antioxidant technology-so it's good for you and the environment (Al Gore would be proud).
Plant those smackers
When you think of corn you might picture neighborhood barbeques and roudy children with corn on the cob dribble running down their chins. You probably never thought about wearing it on your lips. CARGO invites you to change how you think about corn, an abundant renewable resource. PlantLove™ Botanical Lipstick is made entirely out of environmentally friendly corn.
The manufacturing process emits less greenhouse gases, which many scientists believe to be the major cause of "global warming". The outer carton is made of flower paper embedded with real flower seeds, so all you have to do is moisten, plant, and wait for a bouquet of wild flowers to grow! Now that's using the "whole animal" if you know what I mean. Even if you don't buy into the global warming theory, you'll love the smooth and silky texture, which is infused with Orchid Complex™ and meadowfoam seed oil, jojoba and shea butter. Plus, CARGO is donating $2 from the sale of every shade to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Five of the PlantLove lipsticks were designed by your favorite celebrities:
-Evangeline: Evangeline Lily
-Lindsay: Lindsay Lohan
-Maria: Maria Menounos
-Mariska: Mariska Hargitay
-Sarah: Sarah Chalke
Somebody CARES
Stella McCartney is well known for her stance on the environment and cruelty-free products (oh yeah, her dad's famous too), and now she's come out with her own line of certified organic skincare. CARE by Stella McCartney is a luxury line skincare treatments formulated with 100 percent organic active ingredients and zero percent petrochemicals or silicones. Examples of products include her Purifying Foaming Cleanser that not only washes away makeup and impurities, it's designed to leave your skin looking fresh, soft, and radiant through the organic extracts hawthorn and horsetail. Her Toning Floral Water the antioxidant green tea and linden blossom extracts to tone and soothe-and help enhance the action of the 5 Benefits Moisturizers. The Nourishing Elixir blends natural oils, and a mix of soybean, nigella sativa, and musk rose rich in omega 3 and essential fatty acids to help firm and revitalize the skin.
Lancôme turns eco-chic
L'oreal owned cosmetics giant Lancome has announced its eco-chic initiatives for 2007-initiatives that promise to help combat the damage done by the environment to humans and help prevent damage to the environment by humans.
One of the most exciting initiatives is the launch in June 2007 of Primordiale Cell Defense, which focuses on neutralizing 99 percent of the damaging free radicals caused by UV exposure, pollution, and temperature extremes. An integral part of the eco-chic program is a strategic partnership with Carbonfund.org, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about climate change. In the second half of 2007, the four Lancôme boutiques located in New York's Upper West Side; Short Hills, NJ; Dallas, TX; and Santa Clara, CA, will go Carbonfree.
The new herbal experience
Everybody remembers those annoying-slightly uncomfortable Herbal Essence commercials where the actor who uses the product enjoys it a little too much. When you use these new shampoos by Vogue International, you may be tempted to express your delight. Fortunately you'll be in the privacy of your shower, so feel free to let out a squeal of delight. The shampoos, appropriately called Organix, feature simply delicious scents like Soft & Silky Vanilla, which combines smoothing Tahitian vanilla bean oils with silk amino proteins to strengthen and seal the hair's cuticles. Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-breaking Serum will keep fly-aways and split ends at bay, and make you smell good enough to eat (be warned, strangers may stand a little closer to you). All of the products in their five collections are sulfate free and contain active organic ingredients. See, you don't have to suffer in the name of saving the planet!
What are your favorite environment-friendly/good for you products? Don't keep them a secret, share the love!

It's All in The Name - Looking Good With Quality Cosmetics This Christmas
By
Andrew ReganThe main dilemma faced by most people at Christmas time is usually something along the lines of what present to buy a relative who either has everything already, or who are just downright difficult to please. And combined with all the other usual festive hassles, this is probably something most people could do without.
Of course, the easy way out would be to give money, vouchers or an item of clothing that may (but probably won't) be worn. But getting the balance right between a thoughtful gift and a useful gift isn't as hard as it may seem.
Everybody, to some extent, cares about their personal appearance. Young or old, man or woman; most people take time out in the morning or before a night out to look their best. And this is why cosmetics still prove to be such popular presents at Christmas time.
But as with any present, it's important to show that some effort has been made and therefore it's crucial that good, quality cosmetics are sourced.
Premium beauty products, for example, are a safe bet for Christmas gifts for men and women alike.
High quality skincare products are available both individually and as part of gift-sets that are sure to go down well with even the fussiest of people. For example, there is a range of Biotherm products aimed specifically at men that are designed to re-hydrate the skin and reduce the signs of aging. There are also many other premium gift sets available, that combine scents, shaving lotions and aging creams, ensuring all occasions are catered for.
And needless to say, there are countless premium beauty products and quality makeup ranges for women of all ages. Indeed, Dior, Clinique, Clarins and Yves Saint Laurent are just some of the personal care brands available in specially designed sets that should ensure nobody is left under-whelmed on Christmas morning.
And the great thing with shopping for anything these days is the ability to order online. So if the relatively quiet, pre-Christmas window of opportunity has been missed in the high street, and time is pressing, then simply go online and choose from the many premium beauty products that are available and have them delivered at no extra cost if the order is over a certain value.
So, the build up to Christmas doesn't have to be plagued with gift dilemmas. Men and women from all age groups like to look their best; therefore, cosmetics are never a bad idea when trying to find something that's both thoughtful and useful. And with online ordering becoming the standard way to shop these days, Christmas needn't be a stressful time.

Don't Let Your Hair Dry Out
By
Aazdak AlisimoThere is a constant struggle going on in your hair between the need to keep it clean and the need to keep it from being dry and brittle. Assuming you want to keep it clean, what can you do to keep it from turning into dry hay?
If you care at all about your hair, you have learned that you have this constant struggle. When you clean your hair by shampooing it on a regular basis, you also remove the natural oils and moisture that protect it and keep it healthy. This is why the hair cleaning process is usually a two step procedure. You wash it to make it clean, and then condition it to restore the lost oils and moisture that are removed with the rinse water. This constant cleaning means you better use quality moisturizers.
There is no single optimum moisturizer for your hair. In fact, it sometimes seems that no two people have identical conditions in their hair. Hair comes in such a variety that what is ideal for one person is harmful for another. People with extremely oily hair might not really even need any moisturizers at all. This is the problem with most products and beauty tips relating to hair conditioning. They need to be very specific in identifying the hair type in order to be useful.
The key ingredients in the moisturizing process are called humectants. This is a substance that restores and retains moisture in hair. The best humectants contain botanicals and protein. The protein is the natural building blocks of the hair and protein rich conditioners usually restore the health of the hair while also replenishing the moisture and providing a seal to retain it in the hair. One good tip is to look for the most natural ingredients. Lotions and conditioners that are made from natural products such as olive oil and aloe are usually very effective.
The important thing is to learn the needs of your own hair and to center your search for hair care products including moisturizers and conditioners on your own particular condition. What works well for your friend is not going to necessarily work well for you. Unlike many cosmetics or beauty care products, hair conditioning is a highly individual art.
Although everyone has a favorite product, we will refrain from naming specific brands in this article for that reason. The process of determining the best moisturizer for your hair begins with understanding your hair and accepting it for what it is. Then, your search is for the products designed to deal with your particular condition. You might have to experiment a bit to find the product brand that is perfect for you, but it is worth the effort.
Aazdak Alisimo writes about a wide variety of beauty issues for ProfessionalBeautySupplyStores.com, where you can find
beauty supply stores across the nation.
