What a Scent-Sation!

By Stephanie Younger

When we talk about scent, everyone has his or her own personal preference but have you ever noticed how one person's scent sends a silent message to the people around him or her? Smelling nice is just another Law of Attraction. Some scents actually have the ability of raising one's confidence level. In a rather recent study conducted by and for a brand of deodorant revealed that volunteers who were wearing deodorant looked, acted and behaved in a more confident level. Female volunteers were screening the men through short silent movies. The female volunteers pointed out the men whom they felt were more attractive and successful and they were the men wearing deodorant.

The study affirms the belief that the scent enhanced their confidence level and through their movement and attitude, people perceive them to be more attractive or successful. The conclusion is that the females were judging the men based on their movement and behavior instead of their physical appearance. There is a wide ranging mix of scents out in the market out there that promotes different behavior in both the wearer and the people around them.

People wearing scents with jasmine, patchouli, gardenia and cinnamon radiate with love and romance while stronger scents like mint, lemon, tangerine and eucalyptus makes people think of the wearer as an energetic sort of person. Scents made from lavender, frankincense and cedar are often perceived as a calm, cool and collected person. Marjoram is also an incredibly calming scent.

A scent often attaches itself to a memory too. For instance, a particular perfume could remind you of your first love or a particular aroma could remind you of your mother's cooking.

But that's not all there is to it.

If a person wanted to wear a scent that makes people behave or be perceived as young or young-at-heart, it's completely possible. People wearing a scent containing pink grapefruit, pomegranate, jasmine, mango and soft musk, they will smell almost a decade younger; people will never be able to guess their age this way. Isn't this, after all, what people are looking for? A painless, affordable way to keep aging at bay?

The above scent will interact with the body's own scent to create a long-lasting scent that helps the wearer smell younger. Ultimately, what we want is to be walking into an annual school reunion and having people make comments like, 'Wow! You never changed one bit! How do you do it?'

Thankfully, with science and research, we have scents that we now know as anti-aging scents.
