Is That Wax Pot Clean?

There's nothing like getting rid of that unattractive hair to make you feel better about yourself.
But before your next waxing appointment, here are a few tips to make sure your experience is a safe and healthy one.

- A Clean Waxing Area

The therapist should be using a clean, clutter free workspace. Ask the therapist what they use to sterilize their equipment. Hospital grade alcohol is acceptable in most cases for on hand sanitizing. The waxing table should be covered with waxing paper and/or a sheet.

- Avoid Cross Contamination

The Golden Rules:

1. The therapist should always wear gloves.

2. The therapist should never use the same application stick twice when doing a bikini wax or any other area where spotting is noticeable.

3. The therapist should never use the same applicator for different areas of the body.

If the therapist uses poor sanitation habits while performing your services, then it's a good chance that this is common practice.

- The Wax Pot

The wax pot should be clean of any excess wax or debris. Ask to see the actual wax, make sure there are no foreign objects floating in the wax. There should also be a circular shape protect around the ring of the wax separating the wax and the pot. This catches any excess wax that may drip onto the machine.
