Makeup Guidelines for a Day at the Beach
By Angie L
I love a day at the beach. There is just something about a nice, relaxing day enjoying myself listening to the waves. I’m not sure what I like most about the beach. I love the sand, the ocean, and especially the bathing suits. My only complaint about the beach, and it’s a minor one, is the beach wrecks havoc with my makeup.
No matter what types of makeup I wore or how I wore it, I usually came back from the beach looking like something that was washed ashore. In other words, I didn’t look too good.
The hot sun, the even hotter sand and waves may not be my makeup’s best friend but that doesn’t mean I can’t try different makeup secrets for a perfect day at the beach. These tips will help you look your best for all of those hot guys the next time you plan for a day at the beach.
The most important thing you can do for a day at the beach is to apply sunscreen. Even if it’s cloudy, cold or rainy. You should apply it before you go in the sun and applied frequently throughout the day. Try to use a sunscreen lotion with an SPF-30 or higher. The higher the SPF, the more effective it protects your skin from harmful sunrays and prevents skin cancer.
A good method of applying sunscreen is to exfoliate the skin on your face beforehand. Then, apply the about 15-20 minutes before going outside. Reapply it around every two or three hours.
Even out your skin tone using a foundation that matches your natural color. You may need to apply concealer to cover any blemishes you missed.
Use a blush the color of your natural flushed color and apply it using a large brush with a sweeping motion on the apples of your cheeks. Always go with the natural look without overdoing it. Of course, waterproof is the way to go here as well.
Skip using any eye makeup, since it will just wash off in the water or look unnatural and scary.
Instead, simply use a single color on your eyelids and waterproof brown or black mascara. While higher quality products may be more expensive, they often provide better results. If you have oily skin, use a powder to set your makeup.
Use a sheer color on your lips that is one or two shades darker than your natural lip color. Try a sheer shimmery lip tint with an SPF of 15 or more to give your lips a great sheen and sun protection as well. For many women, a lip gloss normally provides more than enough color.
Carry your any makeup products you will think you need throughout the day in your beach bag. You may need to reapply some.
When you leave the beach, never think that you are safe from the sun until you soothe and moisturize your skin for makeup. Aloe Vera is very effective herb for doing this. It gives the best results by using it as an oil-free moisturizer after sweating all day long on the beach.
If you’ll be basking under the sun all day, wearing long hat is a good idea. It is ideal for covering up your face and hair to prevent any further sun damage.
